Muscle Sculpting Consultation
A 30-minute, one-on-one assessment with a licensed medical provider. The first step before any muscle sculpting course of treatment.
Performed by licensed medical providers under physician supervision
— Overview —
What It Is
Every muscle sculpting course of treatment at Chicago Medspa begins with this consultation. It is a 30-minute, one-on-one conversation with a licensed medical provider covering your goals, your activity and training routine, and any relevant medical considerations. Your provider explains how muscle sculpting works, which muscle groups can be targeted, what a typical course of sessions involves, and whether the treatment is appropriate for you. Your consultation is complimentary, with no obligation to book.
— The Experience —
How It Works
- Welcome & Intake. A private conversation about your goals, your activity routine, and your history.
- Assessment & Discussion. Your provider reviews the muscle groups you are considering and any relevant medical considerations.
- How the Treatment Works. An explanation of FDA-cleared muscle stimulation, which areas can be targeted, and what a course of sessions involves.
- Your Treatment Plan. You leave with a recommended plan and clear next steps. Your consultation is complimentary, with no obligation to book.
— Screening —
Why This Consultation Screens Rather Than Sells
Muscle sculpting works by contracting muscle with electrical stimulation, and the device it is delivered with carries a defined list of conditions under which it is not used. That list is the real agenda of this appointment. Treatment is not performed for people with cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators or other implanted electronic devices, with metallic implants under the treatment area, or with epilepsy. It is also not performed over cancerous lesions, over an acute injury or fracture, after recent surgery, or where there is critical limb ischemia, a blood-flow deficiency or venous thrombosis.
One item on that list gets its own screening step: hernia. An abdominal or inguinal hernia rules the treatment out, and because a hernia can exist without having been diagnosed, your provider screens for the signs of one before any abdominal course is planned rather than relying on your chart to mention it.
A few situations call for a physician's evaluation rather than an automatic no: pregnancy, where safety has not been established; a known heart-rhythm condition; and chronic abdominal or gut conditions such as Crohn's disease, colitis or Graves' disease. Bringing these up at consultation is exactly what the appointment is for, and none of them costs you anything to ask about.

What a Course Actually Involves
A single session runs about 45 minutes, and an initial course is commonly four to six sessions, with monthly maintenance afterwards for those who continue. The consultation is where that plan is shaped to your goals and your schedule, because the cadence matters as much as the count: sessions are clustered closer together during the initial course than in maintenance.
Preparation for the sessions themselves is light: arrive hydrated, and disclose every implant and medical condition, even ones that feel unrelated, because the screening list above is only as good as what it is checked against. Expected after-effects are modest, transient muscle soreness being the common one, and there is no downtime between a session and the rest of your day.

What Makes This a Medical Consultation
Muscle sculpting is a medical device treatment, and this practice treats it that way. The consultation includes a review of your medical history with a licensed medical provider before any session is scheduled, and treatment is performed under physician supervision. The point of doing it in this order is simple: the contraindication list above is checked by a person qualified to check it, before you have paid for anything.
If your interest is broader than body treatment, or you are not sure muscle sculpting is the right starting point, the general professional skin consultation covers the whole menu, and our shockwave therapy page describes the other body-focused treatment we offer. Both conversations are complimentary, with no obligation to book.
— Candidacy —
