Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser: A Cosmetic Cleanser Guide

Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser and Pore Purifying Acne Treatment share part of a name, but they are different products. Recognizing that distinction prevents a cleanser's ingredient list from being mistaken for the other product's drug labeling.

What to know

  • Gel Cleanser and Acne Treatment are separate products.
  • Do not transfer Drug Facts from one product to the other.
  • Combined-product study claims are not cleanser-only results.

Identify the rinse-off cleanser

The Gel Cleanser comes in a 6 fl oz bottle. SkinMedica's product-specific page presents a cosmetic cleanser, with ingredients including salicylic acid, bakuchiol and botanical extracts.

Its directions describe cleansing and rinsing. The page's cosmetic ingredient list does not provide a basis for assigning it the active-drug concentration or instructions shown for the separately named Acne Treatment.

Read the evidence attached to the product

Some manufacturer results on the cleanser page concern use of the Gel Cleanser together with the Acne Treatment. That is a different claim from demonstrating the same result from the cleanser alone.

When a product story refers to a pair, system or complete routine, keep the scope of that evidence visible. A compelling photograph does not establish which part of the combined routine produced a particular change.

Use complete names when planning a replacement

A shopping note that says Pore Purifying can lead to the wrong product. Include Gel Cleanser and the package size when confirming what has been recommended or reordered.

If you already own a cleanser, ask what the proposed replacement is meant to change. The presence of a familiar ingredient is a useful discussion point, but it does not explain the entire formula or determine how it fits with other products.

Discuss acne questions without self-selecting a complete system

For a routine review, bring the names of cleansers and any separate acne products you use, including occasional items. Keeping them separate on the list makes the conversation more accurate.

Chicago Medspa's complimentary skin consultation can help clarify the concern and the type of assessment needed. You do not have to purchase the paired products before the consultation, and an educational product comparison does not diagnose acne or prescribe a regimen.
