What to know
- The cream is distinct from a rinse-off cleanser.
- List occasional exfoliating products as well as daily ones.
- Get individual guidance on product overlap and procedure timing.
Identify the cream
SkinMedica lists a 2 fl oz package and describes a combination of alpha-hydroxy and beta-hydroxy acids. The manufacturer's cosmetic claims concern exfoliation and the appearance of tone and texture.
The cream's name therefore identifies both a product format and ingredient categories. It does not make the product equivalent to every item that uses the words AHA, BHA or exfoliating.
The manufacturer's AHA sunburn alert warns of increased sensitivity to sunlight and a greater possibility of sunburn. It calls for sunscreen, protective clothing and reduced sun exposure throughout use and for one week after stopping. Read the full current label alongside any individual guidance.
Compare formats before combining them
A cleanser, a cream and a pad can all be described with exfoliating language while having different directions. A familiar ingredient category is not a reason to copy the instructions from one format to another.
When reviewing a routine, record each product's full name and whether it is rinsed off or left on. That gives the discussion more useful detail than a list that groups everything under acids or treatment products.
Make overlapping steps visible
Include products used only occasionally, not just the items you use most often. An occasional peel product or pad can be easy to forget when you are deciding whether to add a cream.
Ask what a proposed change would replace and which instructions should govern the resulting routine. Buying products one at a time can leave a collection of recommendations that were never intended to be followed together.
Keep treatment planning separate
If a skin procedure is planned, ask the treating provider how your existing products should be handled. Do not derive a stop or restart schedule from a product-family name or from a different person's aftercare plan.
Chicago Medspa's skin and facial consultations are complimentary, with no obligation to book treatment. Bring your current product list and the question you want answered; a clear discussion is more useful than arriving with a self-designed combination of exfoliating steps.
