What to know
- Name your priority: shape, definition, volume or another concern.
- Discuss the exact filler and its labeling.
- Let assessment determine the proposal rather than a syringe target.
Use reference images as a vocabulary aid
If an image helps communicate a preference, identify the specific feature you notice rather than asking for an exact copy. You might be discussing the outline, relative fullness or overall balance. Another person's anatomy and treatment history cannot be transferred through a photograph.
Also explain what you do not want changed and what aspects of your appearance you value. These observations help the clinician understand your priorities. They should lead to a discussion of realistic options and limits, not a promise that an injectable will reproduce a particular image.

Ask about the product and the plan
JUVÉDERM is a collection of hyaluronic-acid fillers with product-specific uses. Ask which formulation is being proposed, what the patient labeling says about the intended area and why that option is being considered. A family name alone is not a complete treatment description.
The amount should follow clinical assessment rather than a purchase target. A syringe price or package does not establish the quantity appropriate for a person's goals. Ask how the proposal will be documented and how any decisions made at consultation relate to the appointment you book.

Make room for risks and follow-up
Filler can cause swelling, bruising, tenderness and other local reactions. The FDA also warns that accidental injection into a blood vessel can have serious consequences, including tissue damage, vision problems or stroke. Those risks should be discussed even when the desired aesthetic change is modest.
Before deciding, ask about the treating professional's relevant experience, the full product information and the practice's follow-up process. A clear consultation explains what improvement may be possible, what remains uncertain and what happens if a concern arises. It should not frame filler as risk-free, easily reversible in every circumstance or necessary to meet someone else's appearance standard.
