Undereye Filler
in the Chicago Loop (60602)

Restore volume under the eyes, reduce dark circles caused by hollowing, and achieve a refreshed, rested appearance with tear trough filler treatments at Chicago Medspa, located at 30 N Michigan Ave in the heart of Downtown Chicago.

The under-eye area is delicate and anatomically complex, requiring careful assessment and proper technique. Not everyone is a candidate—and that's okay. Candidacy is assessed at your consultation.

What Is Undereye Filler (Tear Trough Filler)?

Undereye filler (also called tear trough filler) is a dermal filler treatment that restores volume to the tear trough area—the hollow groove between the lower eyelid and cheek.

When this area loses volume (due to aging, genetics, or lifestyle), it creates:

  • Shadowing under the eyes (appearing as dark circles)
  • Hollowness or "sunken" look
  • Tired or aged appearance even when well-rested

Properly placed filler can:

  • Restore lost volume
  • Reduce shadowing and "dark circles"
  • Create a smoother transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek
  • Brighten the overall eye area

However—this is an advanced treatment. Not all clients are good candidates.

Why Is Undereye Filler Considered an Advanced Treatment?

The under-eye area is one of the most technically challenging areas to inject. Here's why:

1. Thin, Delicate Skin

The skin under the eyes is extremely thin, making filler more visible and increasing risk of irregularities if technique is not precise.

2. Complex Anatomy

Multiple blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, and sensitive structures require advanced anatomical knowledge.

3. Risk of Complications

Improper placement can cause lumps, swelling, vascular issues, or a "puffy" appearance.

4. High Patient Expectations

Clients often expect dramatic results, but under-eye treatment requires conservative, gradual approach for safe, natural outcomes.

At Chicago Medspa, under-eye filler is performed by a licensed medical provider using a conservative approach confirmed at your consultation.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Undereye Filler?

✓ Good Candidates

  • • Hollowing under eyes due to volume loss
  • • "Dark circles" caused by shadowing (not true pigmentation)
  • • Good skin elasticity
  • • Realistic expectations
  • • No significant festoons or malar bags

✗ Not Ideal Candidates

  • • Very thin, crepey skin
  • • Significant under-eye bags or puffiness
  • • True pigmentation (actual melanin deposits)
  • • Festoons or severe malar bags
  • • Unrealistic expectations

Important: A consultation at our Chicago Loop location is required to assess candidacy. Some clients may be better served by alternative treatments like laser, skincare, or surgical options.

Your Undereye Filler Experience at Chicago Medspa

1. Comprehensive Consultation & Assessment

Your injector evaluates under-eye anatomy, skin quality, hollowing severity, and overall facial structure. Honest discussion about candidacy, realistic outcomes, and alternatives.

2. Numbing & Preparation

Topical numbing cream is applied for 15–20 minutes to keep you comfortable.

  • Gentle cleansing of the under-eye area
  • Topical anesthetic applied and allowed to work
  • Photos taken for before-and-after comparison
  • Final review of treatment plan and expectations

3. Filler Placement

Filler is placed in the tear trough area in controlled volumes by a licensed medical provider with advanced training in aesthetic medicine, under the medical oversight of the Medical Director. Placement itself takes about 20 to 40 minutes.

4. Post-Treatment Care & Follow-Up

Detailed aftercare instructions provided. Swelling is expected. Follow-up appointment scheduled 2-3 weeks later to assess results and determine if refinement is needed.

What to Expect: Results & Duration

Results Timeline:

  • Immediate: Volume is visible right away, but swelling masks true results
  • Week 1-2: Swelling peaks and gradually resolves
  • Week 3-4: True results become visible as swelling subsides
  • 6-8 weeks: Final results fully visible

How Long It Lasts:

Typically 12-18 months, though some clients maintain results longer. The under-eye area has minimal movement, allowing filler to last well compared to more dynamic areas.

Important: Results depend on product choice, placement technique, and individual metabolism.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does under-eye filler hurt?

Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment. Mild pressure or a pinching sensation is normal. Comfort is discussed at your consultation.

How long does swelling last?

Expect moderate swelling for 5-10 days. Some residual puffiness may linger for 2-3 weeks. Proper aftercare helps minimize swelling.

Am I a good candidate for tear trough filler?

Not everyone is a candidate. Anatomical factors, skin thickness, and severity of hollowing determine candidacy. A consultation at our Chicago Loop location is required.

Will it look natural?

With proper technique and conservative volumes, yes. Our approach prioritizes subtle, refreshed enhancement—not overfilled or obvious results.

Can filler fix my dark circles?

If dark circles are caused by shadowing from hollowing, filler can help significantly. If caused by true pigmentation, filler won't address that—other treatments may be better.

What if I don't like the results?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible with hyaluronidase if needed. Your provider will review the result with you at your follow-up appointment.
