— Treatment Overview —
What IV Hydration Is
IV hydration is a wellness service that delivers fluids, electrolytes, and vitamins directly into the bloodstream through a small intravenous drip. Because the infusion bypasses the digestive system, fluids and nutrients are delivered efficiently while you relax in a private treatment room. At Chicago Medspa, IV hydration is administered by licensed medical providers under physician supervision at our Chicago Loop practice.
Each infusion is built around a base of sterile IV fluids. Depending on your consultation, your provider may include ingredients such as B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium, and electrolytes. The right formulation is determined individually — there is no fixed menu, and nothing is added without a medical review first.
Many clients schedule IV hydration to rehydrate and replenish after workouts, travel, or a busy week — a quiet hour to reset, in a clinical setting rather than a lounge.
— Candidacy —
Who IV Hydration Is For
IV hydration is intended for generally healthy adults who want to rehydrate and replenish. Clients commonly book an infusion:
- After intense workouts or endurance training
- Following long flights or frequent travel
- During demanding stretches at work or at home
- As part of a broader personal wellness routine
IV hydration is not appropriate for everyone. Certain cardiac, kidney, and other medical conditions, some medications, and pregnancy require additional caution or may rule out treatment. Every client completes a consultation and medical review with a licensed provider before a first infusion, and candidacy is confirmed before anything is scheduled.
— The Visit —
What to Expect at Your IV Hydration Appointment
A typical IV hydration visit at Chicago Medspa runs about 45–60 minutes from check-in to finish, with the drip itself usually taking 30–45 minutes.
When you arrive at 30 N Michigan Avenue, your provider reviews your consultation notes and confirms the formulation selected for you. You'll be seated comfortably in a private treatment room while a small IV line is placed — most clients feel a brief pinch, then nothing more than the cool sensation of fluids beginning to flow.
During the infusion you can read, work, or simply rest. Your provider monitors the drip throughout. Afterward, the line is removed, a small bandage is applied, and you can return to your normal day immediately — no downtime is expected.
To prepare, drink water normally, eat a light meal beforehand, and wear a top with sleeves that roll up easily. Your provider will share any additional instructions specific to your plan during the consultation.
